2012 Recap & Updates

As the year 2012 comes to a close, we have a few exciting updates to share with everyone. Firstly, we would like to thank those who have continually supported us, shared our photographs with others, and left kind comments along the way. Thank you! It really means a lot to us as we continue to do what we love -- and that is to help capture special moments and tell your personal stories through photographs and film! It has been a busy year for all of us with many accounts of personal growth, newly gained experiences, and exciting opportunities.

Let's begin with some important updates!

Theresa is now in Singapore for a 4-month internship, and she will be blogging her adventures there, and photograph new friendly faces she will meet there. Crazy to think that early this year Marie was in Europe, and now we've swapped places since Theresa is now in Asia! Have you heard of Kunioo, a wedding photography and videography company? Marie is now a photographer (second shooter) and videographer for Kunioo. Don't worry! Business will run as usual with ammé photographie. We have just expanded our networks and will feature more engagements, weddings, and video on our website! If you're interested in having us capture a special moment for you, whether it be a graduation, friendship photoshoot, professional portraiture, or even an engagement session, feel free to contact us! We even do videos! :)

Here's a recap of some of our favourite moments in 2012:

We started the year with a bang as we were hired to document a bridal shower.

Marie went on an international exchange to Malmö, Sweden for half a year, where she met some amazing people including these wonderful girls from different countries who became the best of friends. Additionally, she took way too many photos (over 10,000...) during her time in Europe, but will definitely share them eventually!

When Marie returned to Vancouver, we were contacted to do a personal portraiture for a sweet girl whose name happens to be Candy! We had a great time during this photoshoot and learned how small this world as Marie and Candy had met during high school very briefly before!

We also decided to do a little impromptu photoshoot for fun! :)

Of course, can't forget the beautiful hazy glow photographs of Vuitton. :)

Our dear friend Amanda graduated from Simon Fraser University in early October! It was a heartfelt moment to see her walk across the stage in her brilliant blue gown.

Friendship photoshoots always make us smile. This one was photographed by Theresa and features her closest friends from high school. Best friends aren't afraid to be silly! :)

Marie's first project with Kunioo was a short film for their a story session featuring Susie & Alex. Check it out and let us know what you think. :)

It's amazing to note that we started off the year by capturing sweet and funny moments at a bridal shower, and ended with... a wedding! Another blog post is on its way that will go into more depth about the wedding, but here is one image that documented the couple's special day. :)

Friendship Portrait | Best of Friends

My high school friends have been talking about doing a photoshoot for a while. After figuring out everyone's schedules and availability, we were finally able to do a mini photoshoot at Rocky Point park (missing a few others that were not able to make it).

It was a chilly afternoon in October. We were lucky that it wasn't raining though!

These four have stuck together like glue. Best friends are truly hard to come by.

Keri and I switched roles haha. I feel so short next to them...

Having some fun with leaves. Love these majestic giant trees around the park.

It's friendships like these that makes life worth living for.

It was a wonderful photoshoot and quick reunion with these ladies. Never a dull moment with them.

Grad | Amanda

On October 5, 2011, I attended my friend Amanda's convocation ceremony at Simon Fraser University. It was a nice day as the graduation ceremony happens outdoors under the Convocation Mall, and she looked very happy and stunning in her blue graduation gown. I was glad to have witnessed her crossing the stage and I felt honoured to capture this special moment for her. It made me think of the day when I graduate and how I was also very close to it. Seeing her in that very moment and moving onto another chapter of her life, I felt very proud as Amanda is a very close friend of mine. I wish her the best in her future endeavours and I know that no matter what, I'll always be by her side to support her in the next chapter of her life! :)

Amanda and her sweet family. :)

Amanda + Phil! Her boyfriend. :)
You can see their couple photoshoot that I did for them last Winter: Click here

The next few photos few the signature SFU mosaic wall!

I love how these photos turned out. :)

Yay for other friends who attended Amanda's convocation. :)

Portrait | Vuitton

In late September, I was able to photograph the lovely and sweet Vuitton, whom I got to know this year over desserts and random chats. She is very adorable and has a great sense of style! We joked around over the amount of shots we took where her eyes were closed, but nonetheless, she was fun to photograph and be around. On that day, we had the perfect hazy glow achieved through backlighting. I always love that effect during portrait sessions! Definitely my favourite type of shots are candid moments and genuine smiles that make you smile in return. Enjoy!

Super excited for future endeavours. Will update everyone soon!

Analogous Gold

A few weeks ago, we brainstormed a creative shoot just between the two of us. We wanted to try something new. Our photography style for ammé photographie has always been bright and cheerful with natural lighting. This time, we decided to challenge ourselves and use studio lighting instead. The theme for this photoshoot is contrast, drama, and fashion.

It was super fun, especially when you can blast and dance to music while taking photos! Like what you see? Leave us a comment below and tells us if you would be interested in doing a shoot like this. Stay tuned for more in the future.
